Computational modelling -- skin cellsDec 14, 2011
Professor Rod Smallwood explains how computational modelling can be used to understand the continuous process of renewal of human skin.
Stem Cells Made From Human SkinMar 31, 2012
Scientists have made ordinary human skin cells take on the chameleon-like powers of embryonic stem cells, a startling breakthrough that might someday deliver the medical payoffs of embryo cloning without the controversy.

Guppy-Fish-Eating-Dead-Skin-Cells TherapyMay 18, 2012
My guppy fishes are happily nibbling off my dead skin cells. I may not show it, but my finger tips are extremely itchy, because of the bigger fishes at the bottom of the pond. It's a kinda relaxing "therapy", it somehow eases your stresses + don't need to feed the fish anymore! :P
The Skin GunMay 20, 2012
Since the video is blocked in some countries I re-uploaded this so others could see. Enjoy! ***UPDATE 2/17/2011*** A lot of people have doubts that this is real. This is not unusual when new groundbreaking technology suddenly sweeps in. Do a couple of quick searches and you'll see many articles on this. I see absolutely no point in Nat Geo defiling their credibility by showing this video on their channel if it were fake. There is no marketing incentive, or tie-in here. In other words...stop being ridiculously skeptical just because you can't believe it. This is technology people. If you showed someone an HD camera 300 years ago they'd be just as much in disbelief. What we perceive as unthinkable now may come to be reality later. We have not even begun to scratch the surface of what technology can do for us. Don't forget that due to the limitations of our methodology and our global way of thinking, our technology and research is truly being hampered on many levels and is VERY VERY much behind what it could potentially be if we were not held back by monetary concerns. ***UPDATE 7/3/11*** 3D printing with the use of this technology. If you still don't believe this is real, here's another use of the underlying technology. www.youtube.com (Time is 9:05 in the video for the skin cell printing)
How Blood Vessels Made From Human Skin Cells Could Change the Future of MedicineAug 02, 2011
Showcased in the American Heart Association's Emerging Science Series, this video introduces the viewer to groundbreaking research where lab-grown skin cells taken from a single, human donor were turned into human blood vessels and successfully implanted into patients. The bulk of this research was developed at Saint Joseph's Translational Research Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.
Brain cells from skin cellsMay 13, 2012
This is a beautiful image of human brain cells, which can now be grown from adult skin cells. Cambridge University's Under the Microscope is a collection of videos that show glimpses of the natural and man-made world in stunning close-up. Check out the rest of the series here: bit.ly Yichen Shi: "Brain neural stem cells derived from human skin cells: these stem cells express typical marker genes of brain neocortical stem cells, such as Pax6 (Red fluorescent labeled), and form a rosette structure resembling the transection of the neural tube." The entire image is about 250 μm across (a really thick bit of human hair). Printing New Skin: Saving Lives with Ink Jet PrintersMay 11, 2012
By modifying an ink jet printer and growing skin cells from a patient's body, a US Army research lab has developed an amazing treatment for severe burns: printing new skin. Once the patient's skin cells are in a sterile ink cartridge, a computer uses a three dimensional map of the wound to guide the printing. "The bio-printer drops each type of cell precisely where it needs to go," explains Kyle Binder, a biomedical scientist at the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine's Wake Forest lab. "The wound gets filled in and then those cells become new skin."

The latest object on the health and wellness horizon -- Adult Stem Cell enhancers
It's highly likely you've heard something about stem cells. They have been the subject of many headlines, especially the debate between embryonic and adult stem cells. The reason why this debate rages is because of the potential stem cells offer to renew and repair the body.
Rare Swiss Apple Stem Cells Emerge as Top Anti Aging Skin Care Ingredient for 2010
The Swiss Apple (Uttwiler Spätlauber), is a nearly extinct variety found only in Switzerland. When the unpicked apples or tree bark is punctured, Swiss Apple trees have the ability to heal themselves. Once picked, Swiss Apples last months longer than other varieties. Greensations® brand skin care products has launched a new anti-aging formula using the power of Swiss Apple stem cells in their new ThermaSkin line. By combining the rare fruit extract with Capsaicin and Caffeine, Greensations has come up with a solid balm that protects the delicate stem cells from degradation which significantly decreases manufacturing costs.
